I want to be a dad. That’s floating to the top of my list. I think it’s such an important thing. I’m at the age where everyone has kids, and I ask them, ‘Is it like a puppy?’ And they go, ‘It’s 10 times a puppy.’ – Jimmy Fallon

  • Alice Layton: It’s obvious what HFP does for animals, but I might be even more touched by what you do for people, Eldad. You remind us how to be human: empathetic, kind, respectful, persistent, resilient, ingenious… What you exemplify is that caring for others – especially those with whom we share no self-interest — is the highest expression of our abilities. <3
  • Jason Patterson: In case anyone was curious, it is extremely common for larger birds like herons to leave the nest voluntarily before they’re able to fly well and it’s perfectly fine. These particular birds, however, were still far too young for that though – they were only just starting to grow their flight feathers (the big, thick feathers you could see when the bird’s wing was being bandaged). Something or someone was chasing them out of the nest. It could be a sibling, bird of prey, raccoon, or crazy person.
  • ParArdua: Special thanks to Linda of Pacific Wildlife Project for her sanctuary, and her enormous contribution to the rehabilitation and welfare of wildlife.
  • Holly: Thankful that there is people like Eduardo in the world what a caring guy 🥰
  • Tabitha M.: That is insane that there were so many baby birds that needed to be rescued. You guys are amazing! Thank you for saving them! 💖💖

  • Paul Kinnear: Given how horrible the world seems right now, seeing such kindness makes me weep.
  • sue1699: I was surprised by the number of nearby folks who didn’t realize the birds were need of help, or just didn’t care. Thanks, Eldad, Loreta, and all the others who care.
  • Belinda Roberts: We need more Edwardos’s in this world, & people like you guys.
  • John Holliday: When my son was in grade school, the class went to see egrets nesting. Right in front of us, one chick, about as old as the heron in this video, fell from the nest. There was no way to put it back. I had a box and a blanket in my car and we put the chick in the box and covered it with the blanket. The teacher drove it to a bird rescue site. Great learning moment for the kids.
  • foxsinger: Thank you to Eldad, Loretta, Kris, and Of course, Eduardo who kept his eyes open and called Hope For Paws! What a wonderful organization!💕

  • trixie beldon: I see I’m not the only person who values hope for paws not just for the amazing rescues and compassion but also for the reminder that there are other good humans in the world. Dogs, cats, skunks, reptiles, that donkey years ago, and now literal baby dinosaurs!
  • Wendy Henschel: I rescued a baby blue heron once. It had fallen out of its nest. I brought it to the bird sanctuary that was local to my area. When it was old enough they released it back to my area. I was so happy to see it survive and go back to the wild.
  • Elsa Cisneros: That was amazing. You’ve extended your aid and assistance to save the lives of all manner of animals, not only dogs and cats. You’re constantly having to improvise and strategize to deal with each situation – it sure makes for interesting viewing, but you’re serving a higher purpose. God bless you Eldad.

  • karen jones: i am so touched that eduardo knew you from your videos and everyday brings food for the birds and squirrels. some years back, there was a gentleman who did bread crumbs and seeds at a local grocery store parking lot. i would see him in the early morning when i stopped to pick up items after a night shift. makes me wonder if he is still doing that. none the less, this is an amazing story. so sorry two did not survive and one can not fly but is safe in the sanctuary. thank you for the wonderful work you all do.
  • LowsonIntl: What a rescue❣ So tragic that these baby herons suffered so greatly. And those fishing lines and hooks in the trees – the unconsciousness of people is mind-boggling and very sad. People need to wake up to their responsibility as stewards of this planet and protect our wildlife. The power of respect will change our world. Thank you for the compassionate work that you do to save the lives of these precious beings. Bless you. 🙏
  • Margaret Barger: You are an amazing bunch of caring people. Wish we had more people like you in this world. I loved this video.!!!
  • Mary Games: Thank you for rescuing the baby herons. And for getting them medical care as needed. I’m sorry not all of them made it. But at least they had a better chance than if nothing at all had been done for them.
  • Vera Giron: Muchas gracias por salvar a esos angelitos inocentes, gracias también a Eduardo por dar aviso 🙏
  • Wendi: I can’t thank you all enough it was a combined effort. What you do for all animals is amazing. • Evaristo Flores: I wish we had an organization like you guys here in South Texas.
  • M Young: Y’all are amazing! I have so much respect Hope for Paws and what y’all do. Blessings on you all.
  • showmeMO: It really torques me off how many anglers just abandon their lures, hooks and line that can snag other wildlife. They are not good stewards of nature. There needs to be more education. Unfortunately there are always those that just don’t care. Sad.
  • Linda M: I am so choked up …. You kept the bird even if he wasn’t perfect. This overwhelms me with renewed spirit!
  • StarRocks: What an epic rescue! Great work out there, Eldad! 😃
  • Rita Gibson: Respect for nature. Respect for all who jumped in to help. Thank you for being such good stewards of the world we have and rescuing not only the herons, but those birds in the future who might’ve been injured by all those lures/hooks/fishing lines. You amaze me with your courage and persistence over 11 years. You have my utmost respect. Be safe my friends.
  • Sandra Lutz-Rodriguez: You guys rock! So glad you were able to save so many baby Herons, RIP to the one that did not make it. THANK you for going above and beyond and NOT turning an eye on those fish wire and hooks. It is painful to see how much garbage fishermen leave behind.
  • Ravenous Ruby: Okay. I am a total bird lover, and I am sitting on my couch with tears in my eyes. What more can I say? Eldad, you KNOW how much I love you and your team.A thousand “Thank You’s”. ♥️
  • Cristina Livi-Harris: Good job, as always.
All animals need help and protection at times, and more importantly they need “respect” all the times.
    Loreta, I love your Barbie t-shirt 😊
  • geri coronado: This was an amazing video. First, 3 cheers for Eduardo for his daily vigilance. Eldad and Loreta are wonderful for responding every day to rescue these baby Herons. Seeing the wildlife guy, Chris, up in that tree trying to remove the dangerous fish hooks made me VERY nervous! So happy things worked out for the most part, even though some babies didn’t survive their injuries. 😥
  • Karen Pokorny: How do they not make Eldad the man of the year? His dedication and love of animals is beyond inspirational.
  • Hannah O’Dell: Thank you, Hooe For Paws, for all you do for the innocent animals out there. God bless you all for your great work!
  • Debbie Schultz: Many thanks to Eduardo as well HFP. All the love and caring for animals that you give is wonderful. ❤️❤️🙏🙏
  • Ruth Umayan: Thank you all for the hard work in saving wild lives!!! Kudos!!!
  • Light and Symbols: I find it so sad and unfair that weaker birds often get thrown out of the nest by its parent or stronger sibling. I suspect that was the cause as it happened gradually. They were also different sizes as it’s s fight for food. It can also be a result of overfishing so birds have to compete. Thanks to all involved in the care of these birds 💗
  • Sally Daniel: Bravo Eduardo for helping these birds 🐦 👏 HFP videos are saving lives 🥰👍
  • Rusty Smith: As always, a great job Eldad and the Hope For Paws team. You guys are incredible.❤️
  • María José Arenas: Gracias por ser como sois!
Es maravilloso salvar vidas y ver que hay personas buenas!
    Un abrazo para todos!
  • Marko Senli: Not only you guys, but also all the companies you work together with are heroes. Thanks!
  • Diane Lake: It’s so nice to know that the last bird had a wonderful place to live and be safe. He will be happy and places like the Pacific are amazing and wonderful.
I wish I knew what was causing those Herons to be thrown from their nest. But, at least there as Hope For Paws there to rescue them and bring them to safety and get medical help.
  • EVAN ELDRICH NKUBA: Shout out to Kris for his dedication to his Work i hope he stays safe.
  • Dmitry Alipov: Какие вы молодцы. Для меня авторитет не Гагарин, не Брюс Ли. Для меня такие люди как вы, вызывают искреннее уважение.
  • Robyn W: Helping all animals – those who need rehoming, and those who need releasing. Great job all.
  • John Comfort: Actually, that happens with a lot of birds. The weaker ones get kicked out by the stronger ones.
  • taylormarie: They’re so cute, it’s sad three of them didn’t make it, which is including the one you found on the ground. Thank you for saving thrm
  • kyokisaru: My favorite thing is the willingness to help any living creature in need that they can. I understand most groups sticking to their singular purpose but I love the way Eldad/Hope For Paws as a group help so many different creatures.
  • Theater Girl: I love watching your videos! It warms my heart to see people like you who have made it their mission to help animals.
  • Paige Scott: God bless you!
  • Andrea Walker: I think it is amazing that HFP rescues wildlife as well as dogs & cats. Thanks to everyone who helped. And thank you for getting the fishing hooks out of the tree.
  • Shannon Elizabeth Kelley: And thank u to the doctors and vets and linda!!!! So beautiful to see all these people coming together to save these animals !!!!
  • Baskerville Bee: Oh! From the thumbnail, I thought it was a road runner! Thought Eldad was pretty fast to catch it. 😆
  • Mrs De Vine: every life is worth saving, thank you !
  • diggetydogdoggetydoo: Good job folks! I’d like to offer some advice for safety purposes. I am a retired wildlife rehabber who specialized in birds. Herons hunt fish by aiming for the fish’s eyes. They also defend themselves by striking the eyes of their threat. Here in NH some 30 years ago we had a Fish & Game officer killed by a Great Blue Heron. The bird was hit on the road and when the officer went to pick it up, it speared him right through one of his eyes and into his brain. I have had my cheek cut by a Snowy Egret striking while waiting for sedation to take over. So when you rescue these long neck birds who are accurate experts at striking with their beaks, it is wise to wear safety goggles. If you have a particularly aggressive one, stick a roll of gauze on the end of the beak while handling. This way if it strikes you get hit by the gauze. These youngsters you rescued were too young (fledglings) to be very accurate so you weren’t in grave danger but you were at risk. Had they been mature adults, one of these on your lap will be very dangerous. So always transport in a crate. Be safe out there. The critters need you!
  • Herdis Weins: What a drama – thank god for Hope For Paws – and claws.
Kudos to Edwardo for keeping his eyes out for the birds – and again the amazing Dr. Pedraza performs a little miracle.
When I was a kid, I used to climb in our 3 big fruit trees in the garden – and I didn’t understand, why my mother would get so upset – now I do and scream: ” no Kris don’t”.
My father loved to fish and he was very careful to make sure, no hooks or fishing lines was left behind to hurt birds, dogs or other furry friends.
  • Tim O’Brien: Thank-you Eduardo and Hope for Paws.
  • JL: Great video. Appreciate you showing the follow up with the animals you saved.
  • Gerri Johnson: I love the work you and Loretta do for all the animals!
  • Nad V: Thanks guys ! We need more people like Eduardo in this world 🙏🏼
  • carol b: how odd to have so many babies thrown or whatever out of their nest. would love to know the mystery behind it.
  • Foxi Caramel: Eduardo is so awesome, he goes there everyday to feed the birds & seems to care so much for them, & i like how he was helping them with the rescue mission too. Bless him and all the animals ❤️.
  • Clarendon Lady: Oh my goodness, this was so sad. I wonder what was happening to those poor herons?
  • breadandcircus1: God bless you, EDUARDO, gracias por salvarle la vida a estos animales. Buen trabajo 🙂
  • Ahava Farm: Beautiful Works you do!!! Thank you for saving the life!!! Shalom 🕊💖✨👑💛✨
  • MÔNICA AVELLAR: Parabéns pelo maravilhoso trabalho!beijos from Brazil😍
  • Mary Weideman: Another example of your amazing hard work. Thanks so much for being there for all these animals.
  • Laura T: Good on Eduardo Figueroa for calling HFP to help rescue these herons! It’s great to see all the caring people in the City of Angels.😇
  • Robin Dorrell: That rescue was heroic and amazing! Thank God for Edwardo and all of you!
  • AnnemieM: People leaving fishing line and hooks all the time. Most of them are easy to remove but never the less, since not many people have that awareness to see them and then remove them, I see a lot of ducks and also other animals suffering and also dyeing… then there are people like Hope for Paws that take chances in order to save animals. Chris took to much of a risk in my opinion. Chris, I am glad you did not fall, that was scary. I like to say thank you very much Chris but please, that was way to risky. ❤❤❤
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Kudos to Edwardo for keeping a good watch to those herons and called HFP right away.
  • Karen Stafford: Bless you for all the work you do with all this beautiful animals. You guys are absolutely amazing.
  • Valentina Belladonna: Such a cool bird. Thank you for saving him.❤
  • Nicolette O’Neil: Never really realized that baby heron’s have like a rubber chicken noise to them!
  • SunshineGirl: I’m so thankful that y’all saved those birds. Even when you had to go back and forth again and again. You never gave up! Thank you so much
  • Suki Jay: What wonderful rescues, a bumper hope for paws video! I must admit, having watched probably too many crime videos lately, that I was starting to suspect Edwardo of throwing the herons out of their nests! But no, he’s obviously a lovely man who cares greatly for wildlife. Anyway, great job as always – team work at its best. The guy up the tree was impressive too.
  • Romila Hernandez: Thank you guys you’re all amazing 🤩 God bless ya’ll 🙏🙏🙏
  • The Moonlit Quill: Oh, this is so heartbreaking. Herons mate for life and they’re very family oriented. I wonder where the parents are! If they’re still alive, they have to be beside themselves with worry about their chicks. It’s so amazing that Hope For Paws looks out for wildlife as well as domesticates animals. You are all the very best of us! THANK YOU FOR LITERALLY ALL YOU DO!!!
  • chillinebony: You guys are amazing, and it’s nice to see Loretta again!
  • Magdalena Sanchez Sanz: bendiciones para todo el equipo por la labor que realizan para estos seres que nos acompañan en nuestra vida y hacen este mundo más hermoso 💚
  • R H: Amazing rescues of these precious wild creatures and where you released those birds was so much nicer for them than the pond between the roads. You lot are the best xxxxx
  • adele mussi: Grazie per tutto quello che fate ❤ ❤ ❤
  • Shinju Inoue: Thank you HFPs, Eldad and Loretta for doing what you do💯🥰💕 Nature is so fragile with danger because of careless uncaring people…
I’m sorry that two herons didn’t make it and the first bird can’t fly, but he’s alive and finally the one that got a chance to fly and swim in the lake, hopefully it’ll enjoy a great life 💖
  • Amz I Am: We all watch and love your videos! We love to see ppl out there that care and want to help!
  • Anita Ruiz: You all are so awesome. Thank you for what you do. 💗
  • Shannon Elizabeth Kelley: Edward does deserve a job as a park ranger !!! But what’s so amazing about him is he just looks out for the animals cause he’s an amazing humanbeing!!!
